Friendspeak
Creating Life-Changing Conversations
In the face of dramatically changing demographics as the world arrives in our neighborhoods, churches have an opportunity like never before to reach the world with the Good News of Jesus.
Workers needed for English conversation sessions
English is a second language for more than 13,000 people in Lubbock. Beginning in mid-November, FriendSpeak classes will be offered. FriendSpeak is designed to reach out to our international neighbors and friends with the gospel in an easy, non-threatening way.
The goal of this ministry is to take advantage of the growing interest in learning English by providing conversational English sessions using texts from the New Testament. We believe there are many people who will want to enroll, and we need your help! As we help people with their language skills, God's Word can touch their hearts with His love. Your friendship will help make their love real.
Qualifications for students: Sessions will be offered only to those who can read English and want to improve their English speaking skills.
Qualifications for workers: You don't have to be an English teacher or Bible scholar to be a part of this ministry. The only qualifications needed are: a desire to share the good news of Jesus, the ability to speak English, and the willingness to share at least one hour per week in this ministry.
Training seminar: A training seminar is scheduled once per year or on an as needed basis. During the seminar you will learn how to become conversational partners with readers. As a result of the seminar you will be fully trained to conduct FriendSpeak classes. If you have already been trained to conduct Let's Start Talking classes, you will not need to be trained. If you have not been trained, you must attend the training seminar in order to participate.
Class schedule: You have the freedom to schedule the classes so that they fit you and your reader's schedules.
